On November 7th, 2006, Harmonix made one of the most popular games of all time. We all know it as the very popular Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero, the party game, the video game that doesn't make you look like a nerd. November 2009, 3 years after Guitar Hero came out, Harmonix came out with a brand new video game that will get you off the rock stage and into the clubs. DJ Hero is Harmonix's brand new game has come out and isn't getting quite the same approach than its predecessor. Is this game as good as Guitar Hero?
Lets start off with the game play. You no longer have a guitar controller but a record controller. Using your right hand, you have a scratch disk with 3 buttons which are green, red, and blue. Then,
using your left hand, you have the crossfader, effect nob, and your euphoria button. You would think with only three buttons the game would be easier than Guitar Hero. Well, it's not; its actually a little more challenging. When notes appear you either tap them (you pretty much press the button alined with the color coordinated.) Or you hold the button and "scratch" the record. or move the record back and forth. All the songs are two songs mixed together, and part of the song is on the green side and the other song is on the blue side. During the mix, you will have to go from one song to the other, by using your crossfader. This can be very confusing, but it's very easy to pick up. There is also euphoria which is dj hero's version of satr power. Also if you get a long enough streak you can get a rewind symbol. This will allow you to rewind some of the song. There are over 90 different mixes in Dj hero. All the songs sound amazing with the other song there mixing. You could have Gorillaz mixed with Gwen Stefani, Benny Benassi mixed with Black Eye Peas, Eminem mixed with Beck, Daft Punk mixed with Queen, and much more. The sound is amazing as well; no song sounds like it shouldn't be with the other one. Unlike Guitar Hero, you can't fail songs, you just get low star rating. Stars are very important; since they let you unlock, new venues, characters, outfits, headphones, and new decks. A lot of famous Djs are playable throughout the game. From Grand Master Flash who invented Djing, to Dj Shadow. You can even play as Daft Punk. Multiplayer is starting to become more popular, Not many people would play at first, but I'm seeing a rise in multiplayer where you can have a Dj off or play cooperatively. Some songs have guitar in the song and you can play co-op with one person djing using the dj controler and the other one playing guitar using a Guitar hero controller. Over all I love this game. Its very fun there's so many songs, its easy to pick up, and you can play co-op with guitar controller. The only downside is that the game is 120 dollars, but trust me its worth it, it's alot lighter than hauling all the rock band or guitar hero stuff. Also this game has a play back where it plays it by itself if you just want to hear the songs at a party. This is a great game that got overlooked. This is a for sure BUY.
